A sales executive with over 30 years of experience, Edwin Shoffner serves as president of Greenville, South Carolina’s Mattress By Appointment, a nationwide licensor with access to all major brands. Outside of his professional endeavors, Edwin Shoffner is an avid sports fan who has season tickets to the Charlotte Hornets of the National Basketball Association (NBA).

The Hornets will begin the 2017-2018 season a much different team following an underwhelming 2016-2017 campaign in which the team missed the playoffs for the fifth time in the past seven years. Charlotte dealt Miles Plumlee and Marco Belinelli to the Atlanta Hawks in exchange for Dwight Howard, a veteran who has averaged a double-double for 13 consecutive seasons. The future of the franchise, however, might be Malik Monk, the team’s first-round pick in the 2017 NBA Draft.

Last year’s recipient of the Jerry West Award as the country’s top collegiate shooting guard, Monk averaged 19.8 points, 2.5 rebounds, and 2.3 assists as a freshman with the University of Kentucky. He recorded the most total points by a freshman in Kentucky history and was named the Southeastern Conference Player of the Year. He signed his first professional contract with the Hornets on July 2.
