Based in Greenville, South Carolina, Edwin Shoffner has served as president of Mattress By Appointment since 2013. In his personal life, Edwin Shoffner enjoys scuba diving and cheering on local sports teams, including the Carolina Panthers.
In a move that angered and confused many Panthers fans, the team recently traded leading wide receiver Kelvin Benjamin to the Buffalo Bills for two picks in the 2018 draft. The trade, which came just minutes before the NFL’s October 31 trade deadline, also shocked Panthers players, especially those who played alongside Benjamin on the receiving squad.
The 6-foot-5, 240-pound Benjamin was drafted by Carolina in the first round of the 2014 draft. During his rookie season, the Florida State alum made his mark in the NFL by bringing down 73 receptions for a total of 1,008 yards. Prior to his departure, Benjamin was on a similar pace with the Panthers this season.
Despite his production on the field, Benjamin failed to develop into the Panthers’ top receiving target. Following the trade, Carolina will have more opportunities to utilize the talents of Russell Shepard, Curtis Samuel, and other receivers who offer more speed than Benjamin.
