The open water program teaches you the basics of scuba diving, letting you reach a maximum depth of dives of about 18 meters, or 60 feet. The advanced open water certificate enables you to reach greater depths. The program enhances your skills and allows you to dive to a depth of 100 feet. The course for the advanced certificate consists of three dives, with the deep dive and underwater navigation dive being obligatory.

In order to obtain an advanced open water certificate, you have to possess the first open water certificate and be at least 12 years old. Before reaching 15, the certificate only allows you to dive into a maximum depth of 70 feet – after reaching age 15 you are allowed to dive to the certification’s maximum depth of 100 feet.
